Insights: ASO tips
Any app wants to conquer new markets. Comparison of the Performance Index by country clearly shows where traffic keeps pouring in, and where it’s necessary to promote more actively. The reasons for the low Performance Index can be different:
- Your app may have a low ranking by keywords and fail to get organic installs from the search. In this case, you may need to work on text optimization and efficiency of external ad campaigns.
- Your app may have weak traffic from the Browse/Explore channel. It’s about ranking in your category, lists of similar apps, or impressions in store selections. To improve your situation, scale your marketing strategy and ASO strategy.
- Your app page is not optimized well enough. This means that you should take ASO more seriously. Use the ASOindex section to find out what your growth areas are.
Let’s look at the Chat Master. It’s in the top 10 free games, but at the same time, it misses traffic from search in almost all locales. It has a low ASOindex (short name, no short description, and just two sentences long full description). This affects the indexing by keywords – it is practically absent. Therefore, the Search Visibility Index is also low. The game can be in the top charts due to installations that come through advertising and brand queries. Obviously, the app has a lot of unrealized opportunities to drive organic traffic.

In general, ASOindex is the main reason for the low performance of apps in certain countries. App store optimization is a basic thing. Also, there are cases when the Performance Index of apps is extremely low for some countries. For example, 1 for HotSchedules in Denmark, 1 for Candy Crush Saga in Greece, and 1 for Garena Free Fire in Canada and Australia. This means that these apps are not promoted in these countries at all, there is practically no indexing. Perhaps these are not priority markets. But if the app is available for installation there, it has the sense to start promotion.
P.S.
Enter new markets, analyze competitors’ localizations, and attract more users. The more organic traffic you have, the higher your income. We wrote in detail about the new Performance section here.
